Back to Classroom – Learning to Speak and Write in English

This week, we finally returned to our regular classroom, and it felt great! During our lessons, we focused on two important skills: speaking and writing.

1. Teaching Speaking

We learned that speaking in English improves with practice. A great way to do this is through simple conversations with classmates. Our reading material explained that speaking has different types or “dimensions.” Depending on the situation, a conversation can be interactive or not, planned or spontaneous, personal or for getting things done. For example, asking “How are you?” is a good way to start a conversation.

2. Teaching Writing

We also talked about teaching writing. I remembered how we used to write essays when we were at higher levels. But for beginners, it’s better to start with short, basic sentences and learn how sentences are formed. The teacher has an important role in this—guiding students, checking their work, and giving useful feedback.

Overall, it was a productive week full of practice and learning. I’m excited to keep improving and helping others do the same!
